Almost seven years ago, in the outback, in the middle of the Australian bush, I met an Aboriginal artist and his tribe. Immediately and deeply moved, I found myself in a life of community with the earth, with each other, in a ‘shared world’.
It would take years to put into words the absoluteness of this experience of a ‘WE’. The integrity of the individual did not seem self-contained, but translucent. The individual, partly luminous, partly permeable, radiated and communicated… indiscriminately… with everything… ‘still’!
A few days ago, this trace reappeared in the work ‘serenity’. It captivated me with an unexpected tenderness. The combination of serenity and rootedness, which expands the experience of integrity into such an interplay, has been deeply engraved in my cells. It has lived in me ever since… // from the most intimate thoughts // to the distant star. //…
